EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is an evidence-based, structured therapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987. It involves bilateral stimulation (BLS) often through eye movements, sounds, or tactile stimulation such as tapping. These movements are designed to stimulate both sides of the brain, which can assist with processing and integrating past traumatic experiences.
